Sewing Machines Fusion: Triangle Corner Technique

Yesterday I was piecing triangle corner blocks (like these corners on this block). I thought I’d share a quick tip. Most patterns (including mine) recommend that you draw a line in pencil from corner to corner, on the back side. Then sew along this line. This one is similar:

Since I’m a busy sewer, and drawing lines on 160 squares isn’t very fun for me, I’ve decided to do this instead:

Place the tape in such a way that its edge is parallel to the needle on your machine.

Start sewing in the corner of the square and make sure the opposite corner is on the tape edge. This will keep your seam straight.

You’ll end up with a straight line that runs from corner-to-corner without the need to draw countless pencil lines. Remember that the smaller the area, the easier it will be to draw a straight line. It may be more difficult with larger squares.

The corner after trimming and pressing should look as follows:
